3G Christmas Please

So, it is that time of year again…you know, the time when gifts abound and your dreams or electronic bliss may or may not come true. But, we can always dream can’t we? This year, I hope that Santa, or whomever else would like to deliver one to me, will be bringing me the Samsung i730. Of course it will be complete with Verizon Wireless’ unlimited EvDO data plan so that I can not only run cool applications at blazing speeds on my phone, but so that I can also get those speeds using the phone as a high speed internet gateway via a Bluetooth connection. Yes, this is possible and yes it is very easy to set up. So, what about you guys? What are you hoping for this holiday season? That is, besides your two front teeth.

Santa came early for me this year with the Sprint PPC-6700. Comes complete with EV-DO, Windows Mobile 5, a wider keyboard that I found easier to use than the Samsung, AND the 1.3 MP camera that the Samsung is missing. On top of it all, Bluetooth doesn’t come crippled from Sprint, WiFi and the phone can be used at the same time, and unlimited broadband is only $15 ($25 if you plan to use the phone as a modem for your laptop). Did I mention it’s smaller than the Samsung as well?

I compared the Samsung and the UT Starcom (PPC-6700) and the Sprint phone came out ahead. More features, less crippled, less $$ ($450 compared to $600 for the device and $25 compared to $60 for unlimited data), and Sprint has a much better coverage area for the cities I currently visit on business in the SE.

Take a look at the Sprint. I’ve been on Verizon for years and almost pulled the trigger on the i730 until I ran across the PPC-6700 at a comparison website.

Yeah, I was looking at the PPC-6700. So, you like it huh? And, Sprint will give you unlimited EvDO for $25/mo?
